Hunger Management – Why It Matters

Sustainability is Crical

We’re just going to start with this statement – sustainability is critical. Whatever weight loss plan you have must be sustainable over a long period of time – otherwise it will absolutely fail. When most people start down their weight loss journey they’re going nuts – starving themselves, joining gyms, exercising like mad, and so on. Hardly anyone will sustain that. You get burned out quickly and return to your old habits. So let’s focus on a plan that will keep working for you.

Diet and Exercise Conflict With Daily Life

That’s right – they do. Many of us got overweight because our daily lives leave little time for focusing on improvement. We’re raising kids, working, doing the things we HAVE to do. You’re hungry and grab a quick bite at some fast food joint. You just got home and have 30 minutes to eat before you have to go somewhere else so you pop a processed meal into the microwave. By the time you get home for the night, there is little motivation or time for exercise. These are real-life problems that make weight loss so difficult – and they will lead you down a road of weight loss failure.

So while we absolutely need to address WHAT you’re eating as well as finding the time to exercise, we also need to look at not feeling the urge to eat so much. That’s where hunger management comes into play. A very large part of hunger management IS WHAT YOU EAT. But I’m not just talking about avoiding fast food and snacks. We all know we shouldn’t eat something – but hunger takes over and we do it it anyway. We’ll discuss that in another article. Little by little (to be sustainable), we need to remove the NEED to consume so many calories.
